Once again around 150 guests at this year's academic celebration for the silver diploma anniversary
Once again this year, the academic ceremony to mark the awarding of the silver diploma certificates in June was very popular. It was conceived and organized by the Alumni Management. The Presidential Board was able to welcome almost 150 participants to TU Clausthal.
The jubilarians traveled for miles from all over Germany. Even from Switzerland and even from the USA (Dr. Tobias Baumgart, who now teaches as a professor of chemistry in the States), the silver graduates found their way back to their alma mater. Dr. Feng Xue, one of the first Chinese graduates, came to the Harz Mountains with her family from southern Germany. She now works in Liechtenstein.
This year, for the first time, a computer scientist (Dipl.-Inf. Karsten Daniel), who is also a science slammer, gave the jubilee speech and humorously addressed the "nerd" species and shared his memories of his student days.
TU Professor Joachim Deubener provided insights into current research in the field of glass as a material.
The participation of students from the political committees, student councils, student associations and the Kellerclub contributed to the success of the celebration. Joshua Ehrmann (AStA) and Tim Bartels (StuPa) greeted the jubilarians on behalf of the current students.
The Friends of Clausthal University of Technology once again provided financial support for the ceremony. This year, the greetings from the Friends of Clausthal University were delivered by Honorary Professor Dr. Jens Traupe.
The ceremony was followed by a reception, which was used for lively networking and exchange, as well as a supporting program with tours. The visit to the TU research brewery led by Professor Frank Endres was particularly popular.
One jubilarian summed up the event as a successful alumni event: "I have rarely met such great people as at this event. The TU really is something very special, I realized that again."
