Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dieter Ameling

Professor Dr.-Ing. Dieter Ameling studied ferrous metallurgy, metallurgy and materials science at Clausthal University of Technology from 1961 to 1967. He received his doctorate in 1971 and subsequently held management positions in the German steel industry. As Managing Director of the Association of German Steelworkers (VDEh) and later Chairman of the VDEh Steel Institute, he merged the VDEh with the German Steel Federation in 2000. From 2000 to 2008, he was President of the German Steel Federation. As Chairman of the Association of Friends of Clausthal University of Technology and beyond, he was committed to the interests of the university.

Prof. Dieter Ameling passed away in 2020.
