Association of Friends of Clausthal University of Technology

Founded in the 1920s, the long-established Friends of Clausthal University of Technology (Verein von Freunden der TU Clausthal e.V.) supports the university where state funding is not - or not sufficiently - available, for example in organizing academic conferences and excursions, financing better equipment for university sports or the university orchestra. The valuable support measures of the Förderverein over the many decades are clearly recognizable in almost all areas of the university.
In addition, the association was and is an advisor to the university management in all matters - especially those relating to the successful further development of Clausthal University of Technology. A network of around 1600 personal and corporate members contributes their industrial and professional experience to university life and stands firmly at the side of Clausthal University of Technology. Every year, the association awards highly endowed sponsorship prizes to outstanding graduates of Clausthal University of Technology and presents its medal of honor to the best graduates of each year.

In contrast to the TU Alumni Service, the Verein von Freunden e.V. is also open to sponsors, companies and associations, as well as individuals who feel closely connected to TU Clausthal but are not graduates or alumni of TU Clausthal. Membership is linked to a membership fee. For an annual fee of 30 euros (corporate members from 180 euros per year), association members are closely involved in Clausthal University life. They spread the excellent scientific reputation of Clausthal University of Technology. Through this financial contribution and donations, the association members support the university, students, teaching and research at Clausthal University of Technology.

The university's own alumni management reports to the Presidential Board and is aimed exclusively at graduates and former students of Clausthal University of Technology and particularly promotes contact between alumni and with the university. No membership fee is charged for inclusion in the university's own database.

The independent Friends of Clausthal University of Technology (Verein von Freunden der TU Clausthal e.V.) and the university's alumni management are the cornerstones of alumni work at Clausthal University of Technology. They complement each other perfectly and work closely together.
