Alumni as career advisors: short mentoring sessions

Clausthal University of Technology's Alumni Management offers a kind of "short mentoring" program.

Students and alumni (former students of Clausthal University of Technology) should come into contact with each other through the program.

The aim is to transfer knowledge and pass on experience to prospective career starters and junior staff. Students are given the opportunity to find out more about the professional career of an alumna or alumnus of Clausthal University of Technology in order to develop a concrete idea for their own career and the associated decisions.

In this way, alumni of Clausthal University of Technology get to know interested young professionals for their company as well as for open positions or internships.

The program is aimed at students who are already interested in a professional field alongside their studies and would like to gain an insight into it or are looking for an internship or would like to gain inspiration for their studies.

Numerous Clausthal University of Technology alumni have already volunteered for the program, and other alumni who would like to become mentors are invited to contact Alumni Management.

If required, Alumni Management would also develop a longer, moderated mentoring program that brings students together with a specialist (mentor) from academia and industry shortly before graduation. However, such a mentoring program follows strict rules, is time-consuming and would extend over a period of several years.
In any case, the mentors must be members of the Clausthal University of Technology alumni network and the students must be enrolled at Clausthal University of Technology.
